Beans on Toast

Every true Brit grew up eating beans on toast. Now I am not talking about Bar B Que baked beans or porn and beans. I am talking good old Heinz Baked Beans in tomato sauce.

For the serious conusouer, this would be topped off with a fried egg.

Unfortunately, even though Heinz is a US company, Heinz beans are not sold as a domestic grocery item. To fully appreciate the simple pleasure of beans on toast I recommend purchasing the real thing. If you are unable to use Heinz beans, you could substitute with porn and beans.

Place the beans in a sausepan and gently heat, meanwhile toast 2 thick slices of bread.

Butter the bread using real butter, Anchor Butter was always my favorite growing up, Irish Kerrygold was also good. If you are unable to use one of those, use domestic butter. For best results make sure the butter is room temperature so it spreads.

Place the buttered toast on a plate and pour the beans on top, Voila!

If you want that extra special indulgence, add a fried egg on top of the beans. Mmmmm
